Dramatic Music Goes Here

There are three stages of songwriting and playing guitar. When someone is first learning guitar, they'll mostly play covers of other band’s songs, to try and improve their playing. After a while of playing, they might start to write some originals. After playing for even longer, they might start to gain confidence in their songwriting, to the point where they'll want to record their songs so they can share them with other people. I feel like I have already surpassed the first two stages, so as such, I have wanted to start recording my songs. The only problem: I haven’t been able to get around to recording anything. Fortunately, with this new Genius project thing, I have decided to take advantage of it to finally record and produce an original song. Hopefully, what I learn from this will give me some experience if I ever decide to record more. And believe me, I want to record more.
If I am going to put effort into the making of this song, I'll have to run a schedule: By the 24th, I hope to acquire all the things that I need in order to record this song that I don’t already have. This includes recording software and an amp-to-computer cable, as well as the song arrangement. By March 6th, I hope to have the drum, bass, and backing guitar parts recording. This gives me solid footing for when I record the lead guitar parts. Speaking of the lead guitar parts, I plan to have those finished by March 15th. By the 22nd, since I’ll have finished most of the standard parts, I will start to add little extra parts (such as guitar overdubs) to add some texture to the song. And finally, by the 29th, I hope to have the song mixed and completely finished.
I won’t need that many resources for this recording. One thing that I will definitely need is my guitar, which will be my primary instrument for recording (being used for the guitar and bass parts). I will also use an amp, as I can get a better tone and playing through an amp sounds a lot better than just plugging into the computer. Another thing that I’ll definitely need is recording software, to, well, record the song. Another important thing I’ll need is a amp output->computer cable, which will allow me to transfer what I am playing onto the computer. Regardless of how good my tone is, or how expensive my recording software is, if I don’t have this handy device, I won’t be able to record anything.
My primary research-the 25% part of this project-is probably mostly going to be researching recording and producing. Unfortunately, wanting to record songs for a while, I barley know anything about recording and producing (Come to think of it, that’s probably a reason why). As such, throughout this project, I will be researching stuff. What I’m researching will include things such as how to use the recording software and great producing techniques.
And finally, if it wasn’t already obvious, my goal for this project is to finish writing and recording a song by the end of the 7th week.
